The very first line of code for Brodie's was written in early June of 2022. Just a few weeks
prior, a certain social media (you know which one) had announced that they would be switching their
app to be completely full screen and put a larger emphasis on videos, so basically just a TikTok
clone. We, along with pretty much everyone we know, absolutely hated this platform's (you know
which one) recent changes and it really showed how much the platform had lost touch with its users.
We wanted social media to feel human again, that's why we made Brodie's. We wanted a
social media that listens to users, stays in touch with its users, and stays consistent with what it
does. We also hope to make a non-profit/charity in the future that'll hopefully get some
volunteers from our app if we make enough revenue to finance it.
Even if no one downloads it, and no one even reads this page, we learned a ton while making
Brodie's and will never forget the amount of work and sweat that went into making it. If by
some miracle, Brodie's blows up and 100k people end up reading this, we want to say thank you.
Thank you.
Although we like videos, we think some platforms should have them, and some shouldn't. We're not gonna name names, but there has been two specific platforms that are putting a heavy focus on videos when they really shouldn't (and it feels like everyone is just copying everyone else). We also kinda got tired of the commercialization of everything, we wanted a simple app that feels like it was made by another human instead of just some big corporate thing. Also a lot of platforms are reaching 10+ years old and seem to be losing touch with their fundamental user base, we wanna make something new and relevant for our generation.
Welp, somehow you read all that, I wish I had some sort of prize for you.
Thanks to anyone who downloads Brodie's, especially in the beginning. Thank you to the
dozens of people that tested and gave feedback over the past few months. We wanna keep this entire
page as kind of a time capsule, so we will not be editing anything on here and it'll all be the
same 5 years down the line as it is now (hopefully).
We'll be aiming to release the app before the end of September, we just gotta finish this
site and add stories and some other stuff to the app. To us in the future: the next time you read
this you better be on a private plane or something.
Thanks again.

Nope! We can't even access your data from our account, it's all yours. The only exception being if you upload illegal content (e.g. cp), then your information will immediately be sent to authorities.
Yup! We use the same authentication system as Google to handle any account information so it's very tightly secure. We've worked very hard to make security a priority, but obviously no system is 100% secure, so we intend to make a bounty program for bugs or exploits found in our app that will pay very well. We also have various methods of blocking local attacks, the only requirement is that your app MUST be on the latest version, but your account and information is nearly unhackable so we think that's a fair trade.
As of now, we are not open to hiring. If we eventually reach a level of revenue that allows us to hire people then that is something we'd consider. Until then, if you have any ideas, please do email us and we'll get it implemented asap.
We want to stay away from the short video trend that every single platform seems to be obsessed with right now. We just wanted a place to post photos, that was the whole point of making this app. We will, however, experiment with different and new post types that don't involve videos in the near future.
For now we rely on ad revenue. In the future, we may add some sort of subscription service for an ad-free app if there is enough demand.
We have absolutely no investors, the app and everything else is owned exclusively by us. By doing this, we're not driven by money and have complete control over where the company is going so we can continue to serve our users and their interests.
